To create a more structured process and gain a clearer overview of supplier screening, Vacse is strengthening its work with support from Stratsys. The goal is to make it clearer what needs to be done—and how the work is followed up across the organisation.

Vacse AB is a Swedish social infrastructure property company that owns and manages properties where essential public services are carried out. Its tenants include the police, courts, the prison and probation service, and municipal operations. The properties are acquired to be owned and developed over time.

Trust as the foundation of the business

For Vacse, sustainability work is closely linked to the business model. With public-sector tenants, trust is a fundamental prerequisite for long-term relationships.

- Our business is built on our tenants—such as the police, courts, and other public actors—trusting us. That means we also need full control in the supply chain. Stratsys strengthens us in that work.

Working systematically with supplier screening is therefore not only about regulatory compliance, but about ensuring quality and accountability throughout the entire value chain.

A more risk-based approach

Vacse has worked with supplier screening for a long time, but found it difficult to prioritise the right efforts. Many suppliers operate in the construction sector and in Sweden, which meant they often ended up in similar risk categories. This provided limited guidance on where follow-up and deeper reviews were actually needed most.

- We saw a clear need to work in a more risk-based way and be able to prioritise correctly in the supply chain. With Stratsys, we’re in a better position to focus where the risks are truly greatest,” says Linda Åhlin Erikson.

With more structured support for risk assessment, it becomes possible to distinguish suppliers more clearly and allocate resources where they create the most value.

From checkpoint to a clear process

Another important aspect has been making the process more transparent and easier to follow across the organisation. Supplier screening involves multiple roles and needs to be simple to understand and work with.

- We wanted to move from a simplified approved/not approved perspective to a process where you can track progress. Seeing where you are in the review creates both transparency and engagement in the organisation.

By clarifying the different steps in the review, a shared understanding is created around responsibility, status, and the next action. The ambition is for the work to become more embedded in day-to-day operations and less dependent on individuals.

- The system shouldn’t become an administrative burden, but support that makes the work easier and more precise.

A partner for long-term development

As a company with a clear long-term perspective, it was important to choose a solution that can evolve over time and meet future needs.

- Even though our focus right now is ESG Due Diligence, it was important to choose a partner that can support us over time. The fact that Stratsys offers broader sustainability support means we can develop our work step by step.
